Passion & Purpose
I'm Aylin Alvarez-Santiago, a proud Mexican American from Cape May, New Jersey. My passion for filmmaking sparked at 11, when I joined a local film camp and began creating short films, a foundation that continues to inspire my creative vision today. I hold a B.A. in Film and Television from Montclair State University and an associate degree in Communications from Atlantic Cape Community College, where I was honored as Communication Major of the Year in 2021-2022.
At Montclair, I found a unique creative outlet through Rocky the Red Hawk, serving as a handler and social media ambassador for our mascot. I developed Rocky’s online presence by adapting to his voice, contributing to the newsletter, and filming interactive content like "Rocky on the Street" to engage students. In addition, I worked with Montclair News Lab as an editor, producer, writer, and interviewer, and traveled to Arizona with the "On the Road: Reporting from the Field" class to report on powerful topics like the border wall and Native American culture.
Beyond my studies, I manage social media for a French bakery in West Cape May and occasionally create floral arrangements. I also collaborated with TikTok star Jersey Joe, editing and filming content to engage his audience creatively. My work reflects a strong commitment to storytelling, bridging creativity with connection.
I'm excited to bring my passion and adaptability to a dynamic team where I can continue to grow as a storyteller and make a meaningful impact. Let’s connect and create something that resonates!
