Rocky the Red Hawk:

Bringing Campus Spirit to Life

As part of Montclair State University's mascot team, I took on the exciting role of enhancing Rocky the Red Hawk's presence on campus. From producing interactive segments like “Rocky on the Street” to contributing to Rocky’s newsletter, my goal was to make Rocky an integral part of campus life. My dedication earned me the "Be There" award, a recognition from the Student Communications Department (including Hawk Squad, Red Hawk Life, Team Pebbles, and Team Rocky), which celebrates the FISH! philosophy's pillars: Be There, Play, Make Their Day, and Choose Your Attitude.

Our team completed over 300 shifts during the academic year, and I contributed over 100 of those shifts—more than the average Team Rocky member.

Additionally, I embraced the role of Ricky, Rocky’s “creepy little cousin,” who appeared on special occasions like Halloween, Rocky’s birthday, foggy days, and Friday the 13th. Ricky’s quirky personality added a fun twist, creating memorable moments for students during these events.

I loved my time and being that little freak.
